On Wednesday, Dr Evan Lawrence from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) came to speak with our Politics students and members of the Enrichment Debating Society.

Dr Lawrence is a Senior Lecturer in International Relations, Expert in Terrorism and Security School of Humanities, Language & Global Studies at UCLAN so we was extremely grateful to welcome her to the college.

She gave an insightful view on the state of politics in the USA and spoke about her experience working in Congress and with President Obama. Dr Lawrence then went on to field a range of questions from our students on topics such as the recent mid-term elections, the issue of guns in America, the presidency of Joe Biden and the activism of the US Supreme Court on issues such as abortion.

Dr Lawrence’s talk was well received by our students, and we were very grateful to be able to hear about her first-hand experience of US politics.
