English Literature students took an educational trip to London to watch Dr Faustus!

Our students had a fantastic time on their recent visit to London which really enhanced their studies. The highlight of the trip was watching Dr Faustus at the Sam Wanamaker Globe Theatre. The purpose of the visit was to help students understand the context of The Tempest, the play they are currently studying.

Whilst in London, the group also visited The British Library to marvel at the amazing first edition works and letters on display! Students were able to view artefacts such as 5th century religious scribes; The Beatles’ hand written lyrics (A Hard Day’s Night was written by John Lennon on the back of a birthday card to his son Julian); letters by suffragettes and Ghandi; Wilfred Owen’s note book and Jane Austen’s first editions with her amendments. The trip ended with a visit to see St Paul’s Cathedral and the chance to explore Leicester Square.
