Alumni student Zilin Wu has been nominated for the 2024 British Education Awards in recognition of his academic and extracurricular achievements!

Zilin studied English Literature, History, and Psychology at Carmel College after leaving Cardinal Newman High School in 2021. He was part of our High Achievers+ Programme and is a hardworking individual who gained three A*’s in his A Level Results.

He says, “I enjoyed my time at Carmel with its highly supportive learning environment. I attribute much of my success to the excellent staff who have guided me along the way to where I am now.”

Since Zilin graduated from college, he has been studying Law at the University of Cambridge. He is enjoying his time there and says:

Whilst the course is certainly challenging, I enjoy embracing the challenge. The quality of teaching is excellent, as expected. Furthermore, I love the new experiences and independence of university- the breadth of opportunities have been nothing short of amazing.”

Not only did Zilin strive to achieve the best possible grades in his own courses, but he also helped his peers who needed extra support. Helena, Zilin’s Personal Achievement Tutor, recognised his outstanding results at A Levels and compassion for others, and nominated him for the British Education Award.

The British Education Awards (BEA) is a unique event where young people, their families and teachers, along with politicians, professionals and celebrities from across the UK come together to celebrate educational attainment. Zilin is looking forward to attending the event which will take place on Friday 9th February at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester!

We are so proud of all Zilin has achieved so far and we wish him the best of luck at the awards ceremony.
