Lower Sixth student, Yasmin Al-Zuhairi, volunteers to raise awareness and support Guts Charity UK.

Yasmin is making a real difference by giving up her spare time to spread the word about the problems some people face with gastrointestinal health. The topic can sometimes be embarrassing which is why Yasmin wants to stamp out the stigma by encouraging openness and acceptance surrounding the subject.

To coincide with World Digestive Health Day on Wednesday 29th May and Digestive Health Month in May, Yasmin completed a sponsored 100 laps of swimming to raise awareness and funds for Guts Charity UK; a charity that funds research into gastrointestinal, liver and pancreatic diseases. She has also made some fantastic progress around college and managed to raise a total of £148.70, with the help of all the supportive students and staff who kindly donated.

Yasmin also set up a stall at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where she promoted the GUTS UK charity and informed people of various Digestive diseases/conditions such as Diverticular disease, IBS and Crohn’s Disease.

We are so proud of the selflessness Yasmin has demonstrated and look forward to seeing what she can achieve in the future. Congratulations on the hard work you have done so far!
