Shining gold success for our science department after students win 1st place at the ‘Physics Olympics’!

On Saturday 13th October 2018 team ‘Barkla’ represented Carmel College at this year’s ‘Physics Olympics’ hosted by the University of Liverpool. The team consisted of four Physics High Achievers who proudly completed five challenging tasks. Ultimately winning two tasks which placed them 1st out of 27 teams.

Mala Sandhu, from our physics department accompanied the team, saying “The students were amazing! I was really impressed with how well they worked together as a team. I’m very proud of our top four physicists and it was a joy to spend Saturday with them.”

Our team managed to out-perform students from well known private schools and grammar schools across the North West. This is a testament to all the hard work gone in to the Physics High Achievers programme and ‘tomorrow’s engineers’ over the past year.

We’d like to thank our Physics department for supporting our students and a well-deserved congratulations to the students who took part!
