Our A Level Spanish students have returned from Alicante after an incredible work experience programme that allowed them to fully immerse themselves in Spanish life while developing valuable skills for the future.

Throughout their placements, our students worked in professional environments where they communicated entirely in Spanish, building confidence, improving their language skills and developing important workplace qualities such as organisation, time management, adaptability and professionalism.

Outside of work, they embraced every opportunity to experience authentic Spanish culture. From ordering meals and chatting with local shopkeepers to supporting young children in nursery settings, students put their Spanish into practice in real-life situations every day. They also enjoyed Alicante’s unique culture, experiencing its relaxed lifestyle, warm community and the exciting build-up to the world-famous Hogueras Festival.

Reflecting on the programme, students said the experience exceeded their expectations. They returned with stronger language skills, increased independence, greater cultural awareness and a range of transferable skills that will benefit them in higher education and future careers.

The Alicante Work Experience Programme continues to provide Carmel College students with an unforgettable opportunity to broaden their horizons, gain valuable international work experience and experience life in Spain beyond the classroom.

We’re incredibly proud of everything they achieved and can’t wait to see where these experiences take them next!
