Students from Carmel College recently enjoyed an unforgettable two-day visit to Kraków, combining historical learning, cultural exploration, and opportunities to strengthen friendships through a variety of shared experiences.

The trip began with a visit to the world-famous Wieliczka Salt Mine, one of Poland’s most remarkable landmarks. Students explored the vast underground network of tunnels, chambers, and intricate salt sculptures, gaining an insight into the site’s rich history and significance.

In the evening, the group came together for a traditional Polish meal before taking to the water for a scenic river cruise. The cruise provided a unique perspective of Kraków’s stunning architecture and offered students the chance to experience the city from a different viewpoint as the sun set over the skyline.

A key focus of the second day was a guided visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau. The powerful and moving tour provided students with an important opportunity to reflect on one of the darkest chapters in human history. Through expert guidance and personal stories, students gained a deeper understanding of the Holocaust and the importance of remembrance, tolerance, and human rights.

Following this thought-provoking experience, students enjoyed an evening at the Bowling House, where they relaxed together over a group meal and took part in bowling and arcade activities.

The trip also included free time to explore Kraków’s historic Old Town and Jewish Quarter, allowing students to experience the city’s vibrant culture, browse local markets, and appreciate its rich heritage and atmosphere.

The visit provided an invaluable blend of education, reflection, and cultural enrichment. Throughout the trip, students represented Carmel College with maturity, respect, and enthusiasm, making the most of every opportunity presented to them.

This memorable experience will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on all those who took part, providing lessons and memories that will stay with them for many years to come.
