BTEC Applied Psychology and A Level Psychology students from Carmel College recently enjoyed an enriching two-day educational trip to London, combining academic learning with cultural exploration and memorable experiences across the capital.
The visit provided students with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of psychological concepts through real-world contexts, while also experiencing some of London’s most iconic cultural and historical landmarks.
One of the highlights of the trip was a guided Jack the Ripper tour through Whitechapel, where students explored historical crime scenes and considered the psychological and social factors surrounding one of London’s most infamous cases. The experience offered a thought-provoking insight into criminal psychology and the historical development of forensic understanding.
Students also engaged with interactive Pride Month displays across the city, exploring themes of identity, inclusion, and social psychology while reflecting on the importance of diversity and representation in modern society.
The group attended a West End performance of The Devil Wears Prada, providing an opportunity to experience live theatre and consider psychological themes such as ambition, pressure, and workplace behaviour in a creative setting.
In addition, students visited the Science Museum, where they explored exhibits focused on the human brain, mental health, stress, and medical advances. The trip also included a visit to the Natural History Museum, where students examined displays on evolution and sustainability, linking scientific understanding to key areas of psychological study.
Throughout the trip, students demonstrated enthusiasm, curiosity, and exemplary behaviour, representing Carmel College to an outstanding standard. Staff praised the group for their engagement and maturity, which helped make the experience both enjoyable and highly educational.
