Staff at Carmel College are thrilled that the college once again leads the way for the quality of its A-Level provision in St Helens.

The Department for Education A-Level performance tables place Carmel top of all A-Level providers in the borough for the amount of progress students make after completing their GCSEs through to finishing their A Levels.

The DfE tables show that students at institutions with an above zero rating make more progress than expected, whilst a rating below zero shows that students make less progress than expected. Carmel’s ‘above average rating’ confirms that the quality of teaching and level of support is enabling their students to leave with above-expected outcomes.

Principal, Mike Hill, said “At Carmel, we pride ourselves on the outstanding education we provide to all our students. We are really pleased with this excellent progress measure as it shows that all our students perform above their predicted grades no matter where they start from. Our students studying BTEC and applied qualifications also make excellent progress as shown by last year’s exam results with 100% pass rates for these courses.”
