As part of the High Achievers+ Programme, Carmel students are encouraged to aspire to apply to the most competitive universities including Oxford and Cambridge. Currently, our lower sixth students are planning their progression pathways and, on Monday 18th March, thirty of our HA+ students who are considering an application to Oxbridge attended a conference in Haydock race course organised by five Cambridge colleges.

Students were able to attend talks delivered by admissions tutors and lecturers from Cambridge. These included: making a competitive application; the student experience; interview practice and finance and careers. There were subject-specific talks on many areas Including:

  • Medicine
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • Law
  • Science

As well as subjects that students may not have previously considered such as land economy. Our students took a lot away from this event, in particular how the application and interview process is unique for Oxbridge.  It was brilliant to see our High Achievers excited about their upcoming progression applications in the summer term.
