Congratulations to former Biology student, Poppy Fenn, who was recently awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship at Liverpool John Moores University.

Poppy originally applied for the Community Excellence Scholarship in the summer and was successful in receiving £1,000 a year. For this award you have to show commitment, achievement and excellence above that of your peers. As part of the process, the Biology Department provided Poppy with a reference explaining how she supported her community. During her time at Carmel, she followed the Carmel ethos through supporting her peers in Biology through Biology Buddies, helping on open evenings and going above and beyond.

Poppy’s successful application for the Community Excellence Scholarship led to an interview for the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship. This prestigious award offers students £8,000 a year.

After attending the interview, Poppy received the news that she will receive the VC Scholarship!

Poppy said “Carmel helped me to achieve 3 A grades that made it possible for me to be eligible for the scholarship. I am an ambassador for LJMU and am excited for the opportunities awaiting me in the future. I can’t thank my Biology Tutor, Kim Edgell, enough for all her support”.

This is a fantastic achievement Poppy! We wish you all the best for your future!
