Today Councillor Kate Groucutt, accompanied by Upper Sixth students, Dona Josh and Charlotte Bond, delivered an Aspire to Oxbridge talk to our Lower Sixth students on our High Achievers’ Programme.

Kate is a Labour Councillor and Cabinet Member in St Helens. She also has a role as Deputy Portfolio Holder in the Liverpool City Region. Kate has also previously been a Deputy Chief Executive of a national charity and an adviser to the Shadow Cabinet. She was first elected as a Councillor when she was 28. Kate was the only person to go to Oxford from her year at a comprehensive in South Wales to study PPE. Kate spoke to our students about her experience at Oxford and the fantastic opportunities it presented to her.

As Dona and Charlotte both received offers to study at Oxbridge, it was great to hear their advice on how to prepare for the UCAS process. They also explained what our students should expect in an interview.

Dona has an offer to study Biochemistry at Somerville College, Oxford and Charlotte received an offer to study Human, Social and Political Science at Clare College, Cambridge.
