Earlier this week Combined English students took a trip into Liverpool to watch a live performance of ‘The Lovely Bones’ at the Everyman Theatre.

The stage adaptation derives from Alice Sebold’s world-famous novel ‘The Lovely Bones’. It follows the intriguing coming-of-age story of Susie Salmon and her struggle to connect with her family from the other side. We managed to catch up with head of department, Elizabeth Connor, who accompanied the students. She told us that the play was “one of the best performances I have ever seen”. The aim of watching the performance was to challenge students to consider the theme of ‘crossing boundaries’ which ties in with their coursework over the following weeks.

The students certainly enjoyed themselves and we cannot wait to see what thought-provoking pieces our Combined English students create!
