Students and staff gathered together on Thursday 31st January in the Dalton Theatre to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

This year our service focused on the 2019 theme ‘Torn From Home’. Led by our Chaplain, Kathryn Edmund, we remembered the lives of those who endured hardship. We reflected on the individuals and families torn from their homes. We recalled those communities living in fear over the threat of genocide. Our service closed with thoughts of those survivors who continue to rebuild their lives and make a home in a new country.

We were honoured to also be joined by, Noemie Lopian, the daughter of two Holocaust survivors. Noemie shared extracts from her father’s memoirs, ‘The Long Night’. Her words were a moving testimony and a reminder to continue to challenge prejudice and hatred. We would like to thank all of the staff and students who attended and made our memorial service one to remember.
