Students at Carmel College are celebrating exceptional success in the prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry Chemistry Olympiad, with a number of Upper Sixth students receiving national awards for their performances.

The challenging competition, designed to stretch and inspire talented young chemists, was sat by students in January, with results and awards announced in April.

Among the standout achievements was Jacob Myles, who received a Gold award after finishing in the top five per cent nationally.

Four students achieved Silver awards, placing them within the top third of all participants across the country:

  • Brooke Osuoji
  • Max Clarke
  • Theodoros Vulcanescu
  • Valerie Chan

Bronze awards were also earned by:

  • Benjamin Cook
  • Anais Wood

Every Carmel student who entered the competition placed within the top 50 per cent nationally, highlighting the strength of the college’s Chemistry cohort. The Chemistry Olympiad is recognised as a demanding super-curricular competition that tests students’ problem-solving abilities and scientific understanding beyond the A Level syllabus.

We are so proud of our students for their hard work, dedication, and commitment. What an “incredible achievement” for everyone involved.
