We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of Upper Sixth student Adam McElroy, who recently represented young people across Liverpool on a major public platform.
Adam, who studies Politics, Philosophy and Performance at Carmel, was invited by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Barbara Murray, to appear on her official podcast, The Link in the Chain. The series aims to highlight inspiring individuals and community initiatives that are helping to shape the city’s future, and Adam’s contribution to youth work made him a perfect guest.
During the episode, Adam spoke passionately about his involvement with the Young Inspectors, a dynamic group made up of 11–19-year-olds from across Liverpool. The Young Inspectors are specially trained to assess youth services, gather feedback from their peers, and ensure that young people’s voices are heard in the planning and delivery of community programmes. Their work plays a vital role in improving services and making sure they genuinely meet the needs of young people.
Adam shared his personal experiences within the initiative, discussing what inspired him to get involved, the skills he has developed, and why youth participation is so important. His thoughtful reflections and enthusiasm for helping others made a real impact and showcased the dedication of young people who are striving to improve their communities.
We are thrilled to see Adam’s leadership and commitment recognised at such a high level, and we couldn’t be prouder of the role he is playing in amplifying youth voices across the city.
