Carmel College has recently become the only TASS Dual Career accredited college in the North West.

Backed by Sport England, the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme supports rising sporting stars to gain qualifications alongside their sport.

We are incredibly excited about the new TASS Programme which will be rolled out during this academic year. Our athletes will have the opportunity to attend workshops with professionals working in elite sports, including the Assistant Football Manager for England. The sessions have been designed to ensure student-athletes are prepared for both sporting and academic success.

The elite athletes will work with the Dual Career Co-ordinator and PE/Sports staff. They will also have support from their Personal Achievement Tutors who will monitor their performance closely. They will ensure the necessary support is put in place to allow them to achieve their potential. This will include increased academic flexibility and facilitation of distance learning when required.

We are fortunate to have so many students studying with us that are talented in their sporting fields. Some examples include Taya Jones who dances at Jelli Studios in Liverpool and competes internationally, Isobel Papaspyridis who is part of the Super Regional Talent Squad for Kayaking Slalom, Jess Adamson who competes nationally at women’s artistic gymnastics and Cian Williams who plays Rugby League for Burtonwood Bulldogs and was selected for the Wales under-16 team.

If you are a talented athlete looking to study A Levels or Level 3 BTECs, please visit our Open Event. Tuesday 5th Feb 2019, 6 pm – 8.30 pm.
