Carmel College is marking World Mental Health Day by raising awareness of the importance of mental health and wellbeing, encouraging students and staff to support one another and highlighting the resources available to students.
With World Mental Health Day taking place on Saturday 10 October, the College is recognising the occasion throughout the week through initiatives that promote positive mental health and foster a supportive community.
As part of these activities, Student Mental Health Ambassadors have been promoting the College Wisdom App, which provides students with 24/7 access to mental health support alongside a range of helpful resources and guidance.
The ambassadors generously gave up their own break and lunch times to help raise awareness of the app and ensure that fellow students know where to turn for support when they need it. Their commitment reflects the importance of looking out for one another and helping to create an environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
The ambassadors’ actions also demonstrate Carmel College’s core values of Human Dignity and the Common Good. Human Dignity recognises that every person matters and deserves care, compassion and support, while the Common Good encourages everyone to contribute to a community in which all can flourish.
The College will continue its celebrations on Friday 9 October with #HelloYellow, encouraging all students and staff to wear yellow in support of YoungMinds, the charity dedicated to improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.
Through these initiatives, Carmel College hopes to encourage open conversations about mental health, promote awareness of the support available and reinforce the message that no one should have to face challenges alone.
