Carmel College is delighted to congratulate former student Anthony Gordon (Class of 2019) on his transfer to FC Barcelona, one of the most successful and iconic football clubs in world football.

Anthony studied the BTEC Sport Diploma at Carmel College while participating in the Everton Scholar Programme between 2017 and 2019. During his time at Carmel, he successfully balanced his academic studies with the demands of elite-level football, demonstrating the dedication and commitment that would go on to define his professional career.

Since leaving Carmel, Anthony has enjoyed a remarkable rise through the game. After making his Premier League debut for Everton in 2018, he established himself as a regular member of the first-team squad before securing a move to Newcastle United in 2023. His impressive performances have continued to earn widespread recognition, cementing his reputation as one of England’s most exciting footballing talents.

His move to FC Barcelona represents another significant milestone in an already outstanding career. Joining a club renowned for its rich history, global success, and world-class players is a testament to Anthony’s hard work, perseverance, and exceptional ability.

Adding to what is already a memorable year, Anthony has also been selected for England’s World Cup squad, giving him the opportunity to represent his country on football’s biggest stage. It is a remarkable achievement and one that reflects the progress he has made throughout his career.
