Carmel’s A-Level English students recently visited University of Liverpool for the second in a series of Academic Writing Workshops designed to support their studies.

The visit began with a sunny tour of the university campus, giving students a taste of undergraduate life. They then took part in engaging seminars in both English Language and English Literature, led by university staff.

During the sessions, students worked collaboratively in small groups to explore set text questions. The activities focused on strengthening their response structure, applying subject-specific terminology, and developing deeper, more insightful connections between texts and their wider contexts.

The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for students to experience university-level study while building essential academic skills that will support their progress in A-Level examinations and beyond.

Overall, the visit proved to be both enriching and inspiring, helping students to feel more confident in their abilities and ambitions for higher education.
