3D Design

The 3D Design A Level course enables students to explore a wide range of materials and processes to create 3-dimensional outcomes. You will become fully involved in the design process, experimenting and problem solving. You will be able to research, record and annotate from a wide variety of materials including paper, card, wood, metal, glass, plaster, clay and wire. Outcomes include architectural, lighting, body adornment, sculpture, furniture, set design, product design and 3D design.

Entry Requirements

Any Art & Design GCSE Grade 4 or a Technology GCSE Grade 4 including; Resistant Materials, Product Design, Graphic Products, Textiles or equivalent.

Progression

This course leads to higher level university study or careers in a wide range of areas. Some students also progress to the UAL Art Foundation course at Carmel. Some progression examples include: Glasgow School of Art-Silversmithing, Huddersfield University-Architecture, Manchester Met. University-3D Design, Northumbria University-Product Design, Leeds Beckett-Interior Architecture & Design, Salford University-Interior Design.

I chose 3D Design because I enjoyed art in school and still wanted to do something artistic but without having to be amazing at drawing and painting. I enjoy it because I’m allowed to have creative control and independence. I would recommend this subject to anyone who is creative and enjoys making things, drawing or doing digital work. I have been impressed by the wealth of techniques we are taught and the facilities and materials offered to us.After Carmel, I am hoping to study Interior Architecture at Liverpool John Moores University.
