Carmel transport options 20-21

In light of COVID 19, the college is currently in negotiation with all transport providers and partners regarding the provision of transport for 2020-21 which includes the provision of a lunch time service on the days the timetable allows students to leave the premises after morning lessons.

On public services the latest Government guidance will apply. This is updated regularly on the Government website. The current guidance states transport providers will determine what appropriate protective measures can be put in place on transport and learners must comply with any requirements set.

College contracted services (i.e. Warrington and Widnes college buses) are classed as dedicated further education and skills provider transport. As such, social distancing rules will not apply, however a number of mitigations will be in place (i.e. no members of the public will be allowed to travel on our services, use of hand sanitizer will be available on boarding and disembarking, vehicles will be subject to additional cleaning operations, use of face coverings where appropriate, etc). The current guidance states…

‘On dedicated educational transport which only carries learners to the provider, students do not need to keep a one or two metre distance from one another, although they should space out as much as possible and face coverings and other measures used to make transport safer. On public transport, one metre plus rules will apply’.
