A message from our Principal, Janet Gater

When you join Carmel College you are not only joining an outstanding college that is a centre of educational excellence, you are also joining a vibrant and caring community. We are a Catholic sixth form college for the whole community and, as such, excellence, support, challenge, care and opportunity are at the heart of everything we do.

From the moment you arrive you will be guided and supported by our dedicated academic and pastoral teams who, as well as being experts in their fields, are passionate about your growth and success as an individual. Our aim is to ensure you have the opportunity to progress onto whatever future you dream of – whether that is university, a degree apprenticeship or an amazing employment opportunity.

This website gives you a window into what your life at Carmel will be like; the opportunities, details on over 40 courses on offer, Carmel+ including the High Achievers+ and Enrichment Programmes as well as the academic and wider support and facilities. I hope that you enjoy exploring our website and discovering how Carmel, and our college community, can inspire you to learn, believe and achieve.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to be a centre of educational excellence, opportunity, challenge and support within a caring Christian environment.

Our Vision – A Catholic College for the Community

Carmel College:

  • is founded on the person, example and teaching of Jesus Christ
  • acknowledges the need for God and for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the creation of a truly Christian community
  • believes that every individual is made in the image and likeness of God, to be valued, respected, nurtured and challenged
  • promotes self esteem of the individual and enables students to make a valuable contribution to society
  • upholds Gospel values of justice, love, peace, reconciliation and concern for the disadvantaged
  • celebrates the richness of creation; respects and explores differences of faith and culture; and fosters ecumenical collaboration.

All members of the College Community are expected to make an active contribution to this Vision.
