A group of A Level Politics students from Carmel College travelled to Ferragudo, Portugal, during the October half-term to represent the UK at an international European Parliament Ambassador Schools (EPAS) event, The European Bridge: Three Shores, One Future.
Bringing together students and teachers from the UK, Portugal and Ireland, the four-day event explored shared European values, democracy, digital citizenship and the importance of young people’s voices in shaping the future.
Representing Carmel as Junior Ambassadors, students took part in interactive workshops, debates and team-building challenges, including the Bridge-Building Challenge. They also explored topics such as online safety, emerging technologies and the European Union, with opportunities to engage directly with Members of the European Parliament and invited guests.
Throughout the experience, students developed valuable skills in leadership, teamwork, communication, critical thinking and intercultural understanding, while sharing their own ideas and perspectives on an international stage.
Congratulations to Cavahn, Evie, Grace, Fran, Francesca, Sasha, Rares, Sonny, Shea, Tallulah, Jack, Daniel and Jess for representing Carmel College with such enthusiasm and professionalism. We are incredibly proud of them all!
A special thank you to Ines and Kristen for accompanying and supporting the students, and to the European Parliament for fully funding this fantastic educational opportunity.
The trip was an unforgettable experience, providing opportunities to build international friendships, exchange ideas and develop skills that will last a lifetime.
