Thirty of our Upper Sixth Criminology students travelled to Huddersfield this week for an exciting and immersive forensic investigation experience with Think Forensics, bringing their Unit 3: Crime Scene to Courtroom studies to life.

The visit provided students with the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience the work of forensic investigators first-hand. Students suited up and entered realistic crime-scene scenarios, working alongside forensic specialists to collect, examine and interpret a range of evidence.

Throughout the experience, students developed their practical skills by lifting fingerprints, examining trace materials and using professional-grade forensic equipment. Working collaboratively in teams, they analysed the evidence available to them and pieced together the events surrounding each simulated crime scene.

The experience provided a valuable insight into the processes involved in forensic investigation, from the initial examination of a crime scene through to the analysis and interpretation of evidence.

For our students, it was a fantastic opportunity to connect their classroom learning with real-world applications and gain a greater understanding of the skills and procedures used within the field of forensic investigation.

The visit was an engaging and memorable experience, allowing our students to put their knowledge into practice while developing their teamwork, analytical and problem-solving skills.

A fantastic day of hands-on learning that brought Criminology to life!
