Carmel College is celebrating the success of three Extended Diploma in Creative Practice students whose work was selected by UAL Awarding Body for exhibition at Origins Creatives 2026 at the Mall Galleries in London this July.
Ben Felton (U6), Tia Critchley (U6) and Millie Faulkner (L6) were selected from more than 600 submissions, with their work curated by Creative Debuts as part of this exciting showcase of emerging creative talent.
The students’ work demonstrated a diverse range of creative approaches and explored thought-provoking themes including environmental sustainability, ageing, memory and the relationship between humans and animals.
Ben Felton – ‘84%’
Ben’s submission, ‘84%’, explores the bleaching of coral reefs caused by pollution. His response takes the form of a striking garment created using found materials, demonstrating how sustainable approaches can be incorporated into creative practice.
Through his use of reclaimed and found materials, Ben highlights the environmental impact of pollution while also considering how fashion and design can respond to issues of sustainability.
Tia Critchley – ‘What Remains’
Tia’s work, ‘What Remains’, explores the bittersweet experience of ageing and the passage of time.
Her piece considers the memories and meaningful moments we hold onto as time passes, reflecting on the comfort and emotional significance that can be found in preserving these connections.
Millie Faulkner – ‘What Pet Should Emma Get?’
Millie’s submission, ‘What Pet Should Emma Get?’, explores the relationship between humans and animals.
Her work considers how pets are valued across different cultures and examines the companionship, comfort and understanding that can develop between people and animals.
A fantastic opportunity for emerging creatives
Origins Creatives 2026 is a free exhibition presented by UAL Awarding Body, providing a platform for emerging creative talent to be discovered and celebrated. The exhibition brings together work from young creatives from across the UK and internationally, giving them the opportunity to connect with art enthusiasts, critics, industry professionals and potential collaborators.
Ben and Tia attended the exhibition’s private view on 14 July, where they enjoyed the opportunity to experience the work on display and celebrate the achievements of fellow emerging creatives.
They were particularly impressed by the exceptionally high standard of work exhibited and the opportunity to see such a diverse range of creative practices in one of London’s leading exhibition spaces.
The selection of Ben, Tia and Millie’s work from more than 600 submissions is a fantastic achievement and recognises the creativity, dedication and hard work they have demonstrated throughout their studies.
We are incredibly proud of Ben, Tia and Millie for representing Carmel College at Origins Creatives 2026 and for showcasing the outstanding creative talent of our students on a national and international platform.
