Media and Film students from Carmel College recently enjoyed an inspiring visit to dock10 Studios at MediaCity, one of the UK’s leading television production facilities and the home of many of the nation’s most popular TV programmes.

The visit provided students with a unique behind-the-scenes look at the world of television production, guided by Hannah Robinson, a former Carmel Media student who now works as a Production Development Producer at dock10. Hannah shared her career journey and offered valuable insights into the industry, demonstrating the exciting opportunities available to those pursuing careers in media and film.

During the tour, students explored several of dock10’s impressive television studios, where major productions such as The Voice UK, A League of Their Own, and The 1% Club have been filmed. They also had the opportunity to visit the famous Green Room, where renowned presenters including Stephen Fry and Gary Lineker have prepared before appearing live on television.

One of the highlights of the day was an introduction to dock10’s state-of-the-art virtual production facilities. Students discovered how virtual and augmented reality technologies are transforming modern television production, enabling the creation of immersive and photorealistic studio environments.

The visit offered a valuable glimpse into the rapidly evolving media landscape and gave students first-hand experience of the innovative technologies shaping the future of broadcasting.

Carmel College would like to extend its sincere thanks to Hannah Robinson and the entire dock10 team for providing such an informative, engaging, and inspiring experience.
