A group of high-achieving students recently travelled to Oxford to take part in Step 2 of the prestigious Step-Up Programme, delivered in partnership with New College, Oxford.
The visit began with breakfast in the college’s historic medieval dining hall, offering students an authentic taste of university life. Following this, they embarked on a guided tour of both the University and the city of Oxford, taking in some of its most iconic landmarks, including the world-renowned Bodleian Libraries.
One of the highlights of the trip was the opportunity to meet current Oxford undergraduates. Students engaged in a question-and-answer session, gaining valuable insight into academic life, student experiences, and the application process.
In the afternoon, participants enhanced their academic skills through a focused workshop on effective note-taking an essential tool for success at university level. The day concluded with an inspiring tutorial in Pharmacology, led by Professor Grant Churchill from the Department of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, which sparked curiosity and enthusiasm among attendees.
The visit proved to be both exciting and motivating, offering students a meaningful glimpse into university life while encouraging them to think ambitiously about their future academic pathways.
