Lower Sixth BTEC Business, Economics and Psychology student Libby Gore recently completed the Career Shapers Finance Year 12 Inspiring Women Programme with Deloitte.

Libby first became interested in the company after attending a Finance ‘Inspire Me Talk’ at college. Deloitte Partner and former Carmel student Paul Hynes joined two colleagues to share their career journeys and experiences of working at the global professional services firm.

After researching the opportunity with support from the Carmel Careers team, Libby successfully applied for the Career Shapers Programme and was delighted to be offered a place.

Before the work experience began, Libby completed Deloitte’s online assessment, designed to simulate working at the firm, and received personalised feedback from a Deloitte partner.

During the three-day virtual programme, Libby gained valuable insight into careers within Deloitte’s Audit, Assurance and Tax teams while taking part in interactive activities and collaborative challenges.

Working alongside a group of like-minded students, Libby analysed financial spreadsheets, identified issues within the data and presented her team’s findings in a final group presentation.

Libby has now applied for Deloitte’s Bright Start Apprenticeship Programme and hopes to pursue a future career in finance. Congratulations on your achievements and best of luck for the future.
