Our Gold Duke of Edinburgh students recently spent two action-packed days preparing for their upcoming expedition to Moel Famau, the highest hill in the Clwydian Range.

The experience combined skill-building, teamwork, and the chance to enjoy North Wales’ stunning scenery.

Day 1: Training at College
Back at college, students learned essential expedition skills, including map reading, compass use, route planning, and outdoor safety. They also practiced camp setup and emergency procedures, gaining confidence for the challenges ahead.

Day 2: Putting Skills into Practice
On the second day, small groups navigated around Moel Famau with instructors, putting their mapwork and navigation skills to the test while taking in breathtaking views. The day encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and practical application of everything learned.

Throughout both days, students embraced new challenges and created lasting memories. We’re so proud of their enthusiasm, resilience, and collaboration as they prepare for the full expedition adventure.
