Last week, three of our A Level Politics students had the incredible opportunity to attend the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool, placing them right at the centre of national political debate and decision-making.
The students experienced first-hand what it means to engage with contemporary UK politics, attending high-profile events and discussions that shape the future direction of the country. A major highlight of the visit was attending Keir Starmer’s keynote speech, where students witnessed leadership, party vision, and political rhetoric in action on one of the biggest stages in British politics.
The experience became even more memorable when Michel Hachem and Alex Thompson were interviewed live by the BBC, confidently sharing their views and demonstrating the depth of their political understanding — an outstanding achievement and a moment of pride for the school.
Students also had the opportunity to meet a range of prominent political figures, including Michael Gove, Lucy Powell, and Lisa Nandy, engaging in conversations about policy, leadership, and the realities of political life. These interactions offered invaluable insight beyond the classroom, helping to bring their A Level studies vividly to life.
In addition, student Gabriel Yates made the most of the opportunity by networking with MPs and media professionals throughout the conference, gaining first-hand insight into how politics operates behind the scenes and how political messages are communicated to the public.
The visit was an inspiring and enriching experience, reinforcing the importance of political engagement and active citizenship. A huge congratulations to all the students involved for representing the school so positively and making the most of this exceptional opportunity.
