Last week marked an inspiring milestone for one of our students, Anja Gocesvska, who travelled to London to represent the St Helens Youth Council at the House of Commons.
Taking her place in one of the most significant political chambers in the country, Anja joined young representatives from across the UK to engage in a series of impactful debates on major issues affecting young people today.
During the session, Anja contributed to discussions on housing, health, employment, crime, and sustainability, topics that continue to play a crucial role in shaping the lives and futures of young people nationwide. Her participation not only highlighted the strength of youth voice in local and national decision-making but also reflected the dedication and insight she brings to her role within the Youth Council.
Speaking after the event, Youth Council leaders praised the passion and maturity displayed by all delegates, noting that opportunities like these help ensure that young people remain at the heart of conversations that drive real change. For Anja, the experience offered a deeper understanding of the democratic process and a unique chance to influence debates at a national level.
The St Helens Youth Council continues to offer a wide range of opportunities for young people to speak up, get involved in local initiatives, and help shape the future of the borough. From campaigning on community issues to taking part in national forums like the one in Westminster, the Youth Council provides a platform where young voices can truly make an impact.
