This week, twenty-four of our Carmel students completed their final week on the LCR Ignite Programme, led by Inovus Medical and funded by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

Our students are proud to be the first-ever cohort to take part in this fully funded skills programme, designed to give 16–18-year-olds the best possible start in the Healthcare and Life Sciences sectors. The programme is part of the wider Life Science Investment Zone initiative, aimed at connecting young people with innovative companies tackling real-world challenges through cutting-edge technology. We are incredibly grateful to have been selected to take part!

The LCR Ignite Programme has equipped our students with practical, industry-relevant skills, preparing them to be ‘day one ready’ for careers in Health and Life Sciences. Over the 10-week programme, they received hands-on training, expert mentorship, and careers advice from the team at Inovus Medical. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore their strengths, develop new skills, and apply them in real-world scenarios.

To conclude the programme, students delivered professional presentations to a panel of expert judges, including the co-founders of Inovus Medical, who selected a winning team. The students showed outstanding commitment and effort throughout.

The final celebration event was a brilliant opportunity for students to network with professionals from across Inovus Medical’s divisions, including Medical Technology Operations, Brand & Business, Software Engineering & Development, and Medical Technology Innovation, as well as representatives from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. Students were awarded certificates, treated to a delicious lunch, and some were recognised with ‘Rising Star’ awards. A trophy was also presented to the winning team for their presentation.

We are so proud to have been part of this inspiring and prestigious programme and would like to thank everyone involved for their support and dedication.
