Our Work Experience Co-ordinator, Vikki, has been gathering poems, songs, paintings and letters from Carmel students and staff to spread some cheer during this challenging time of lockdown.

It has been a particularly challenging time for elderly people, so Vikki has been sending these to local care centres to help make their residents smile.

One of our Lower Sixth students, Sophie Mellett, and her mum, sent in a poem called ‘Just Smile’. The poem has been transformed into a lovely song which has been performed by Mike Smith. Mike is a friend of Cliff Waine who owns Brown Edge House Residential Home. It was been streamed live to the residents of the home. It is amazing to see Sophie’s poem has brought so much joy to the residents and their families. We hope it makes you smile as much as we did – Click here to view.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved with this project. Special thanks to Cliff Waine who arranged for the poem to be made into a song. We look forward to working with you more in the future.
