Our CAFOD Young Leaders Team have been raising awareness of one of the ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ (SDGs).
Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice.
The group chose to look at Peace, Justice and strong institutions. They explained the importance of these, highlighting how a lack of them can have a massive impact on people, especially when it creates a situation where people have to flee their homes.
As well as designing, planning and preparing a Virtual 10:10 RE lesson & quiz for our Lower Sixth students, they also interviewed a member of the group who talked about her own experiences as a refugee from Syria.
Finally, the team ran a creative competition under the title ‘Peace & what it means to me: the story of a refugee’.
Winning entries are:
1st place – Laura Hughes (painting of female looking through doorway) – £30 voucher
2nd place – Roj Al Joul Bek (poem) – £15 voucher
3rd place – Charlotte Anderson (printed picture with text) – £10 voucher
Well done to the competition winners and all our CAFOD Young Leaders!
