Carmel College is delighted to announce that two individuals will be joining our community as interim Co-Principals.
Janet Nevin and Angela Williams have both had impressive careers in the Further Education sector leading award-winning colleges and sixth forms. They have both stepped away from their recent retirement plans to support Carmel while a new permanent Principal is secured.
Helen Stevenson, Chair of Governors, said: “The Governing Body has been considering a number of options to ensure our community maintains our high standards and aspirations while a new permanent Principal is secured.
“While we have a fantastic team of leaders across the College, it is important that we continue to have the right levels of capacity and experience across our leadership team.
“We are incredibly fortunate that both individuals were so keen to come and support our community.”
Janet Nevin said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed as interim co-principal of Carmel College. I am so very much looking forward to meeting staff, students, parents and governors to work with you all to ensure that you thrive and that the college continues to be a successful, stimulating and happy place to work and study.
Angela Williams added: “I am extremely excited to return to the North West to take up the post of interim co-Principal at Carmel College.
“I hope to help Governors and staff continue to offer an outstanding sixth-form experience, inside and outside of the classroom, for the young people of St Helens. This will enable them to make exceptional progress, and to move on with confidence to the best universities, and the best career opportunities, including apprenticeships, in the country.”
Both Co-Principals will be taking up their posts in the very near future, and more information will shortly be available about how the role will be split.
