We would like to update and hopefully reassure you about your application to join us at Carmel College.
We want to confirm that your application here at Carmel College is secure and we still want you to join us in September as planned. However, we do need to discuss your choice of course with you before we make you an offer.
To help you make an informed choice, we would recommend you take some time to study the details on each course you are considering at www.carmel.ac.uk. This will give you more information on what is involved and also possible future career paths. Other useful websites include www.ucas.com, www.informedchoices.ac.uk, and www.prospects.ac.uk. Any subject choices can still be altered between now and the start of the new academic year.
Whilst we are still hoping we can offer the June interview dates, if this starts to look doubtful, we will move to telephone interviews as an alternative. Your combination of subjects will be discussed again on enrolment day alongside any additional information that emerges regarding GCSE results.
The current crisis means that we are all having to get used to a new way of living now. This uncertainty has created a lot of questions, especially for young people nearing the end of their final year at high school. We would like to encourage you to engage with the work your schools have set, even though you may not be taking any exams this summer. It is important for you to keep your minds active and to continue to develop your knowledge, especially in the subjects you are hoping to study at college.
With this in mind, we will also be putting together some reading and subject preparation resources so you can start to work on getting ready during the summer for your transition to college. We will be in touch shortly with details of how to access this.
Best wishes to you and your family.
