Update – 19/05/20
I am writing with an update following the recent government announcement re the possible reopening of schools and colleges.
For now Carmel’s position remains the same in that we are offering keyworker and vulnerable students the opportunity of face to face provision, however the majority of our students will continue to work through our weekly online timetable and we will move towards more live lessons after half term.
We have started to plan for a possible phased reopening and have begun the practical work needed to ensure the college campus is safe to reopen. We will not be opening the college to more students before 8th June at the earliest (but at this moment it is more likely to be Monday 15th June).
I would like to reassure you that any reopening will only be done when we are clear that we can provide a safe learning and working environment for students, staff and all our families.
We are not expecting to be able to run a ’normal’ college timetable or campus until September at the earliest. It is likely that we will work towards all students being given the opportunity to come into college at least once before the end of term – our main focus will remain upon online learning for the rest of this term.
I will update you with more detail around the phased reopening of Carmel before the end of this week.
Can I ask that students continue to work with teaching and other staff across college to help ensure they are making good progress with their studies and please continue to share any concerns you have.
Hoping that you and your family are safe and well.
