Your Personal Achievement Tutor
Your Personal Achievement Tutor (PAT) will look after you from your first day at Carmel to help you make the transition from high school and settle into college life. Our Team of Personal Achievement Tutors deliver a programme of activities through the year which includes 1:1 and group sessions. Your PAT is your mentor and is your first point of contact if you have any worries or problems about any aspect of college life, as well as any personal challenges you are facing.
Your PAT will provide:
– progress monitoring to make sure you are on track with your studies
– help with study skills
– help with applications for university, apprenticeships and employment
– help with Personal Statement writing
– referrals for any extra help or support you may need

Study Support
You can make an appointment directly with a member of our Support Team in the Library or through one of your Subject Tutors or your Personal Achievement Tutor. Additional support is available throughout the year for any student who needs some help. These will focus on:
– Organisational Skills

– Discovering your Learning Styles
– Effective Revision Strategies
– Stress Management
– Exam Technique
– Writing Presentations
– Improving Essay Writing Skills
– Report Writing
– Proof Reading skills

16-19 Tuition Fund
The government have extended and added to the 2020/21 16 to 19 Tuition Fund for the academic year 2021/22. This fund is aimed at mitigating the disruption to learning arising from the COVID-19 coronavirus. Read the Statement here
Specific Learning Difficulty/Disability Support
Our Head of Additional Support/SENCO, Clare Griffiths, liaises with our Support Tutors, Additional Support Assistants, Care Assistants, Subject Tutors and Personal Achievement Tutors to ensure the necessary support is in place for students. The team has a wealth of experience of working with students with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
