As part of their coursework, A2 Applied Business students voiced their opinion regarding 'Healthy Eating' and Fairtrade produce within Carmel College.
After carrying out extensive research over a three month period, the students presented their results to a board of significant decision makers and influential individuals from both within the college and externally. This included a representative from Taylor Shaw, the company that currently provides the catering service in college.
The presentations highlighted the extensive opportunities available to increase the number of healthy eating options and amount of Fairtrade produce available from both the Mojo Café and college refectory. The research indicated that students would be very supportive of new initiatives and several suggestions were put forward including the introduction of a healthy eating vending machine and a college Fairtrade day.
Those attending the meeting were impressed with the presentations and the ideas suggested. A question and answer session concluded the meeting and highlighted a range of possibilities which could drive these initiatives forward in a proactive and ethical manner.
