Last month the second leg of the French Exchange took place.
Carmel’s French students and staff set off to La Roche sur Yon where they spent a very active week visiting a ‘boulangerie’ where we made bread, an aquarium, a pottery, the town of La Rochelle and the cinema where we saw a new film which relates to the theme of the treatment of the Jews on the second world war and is good preparation for the A2 specifications.
In between all this the students were entertained by the host families and took part in a range of activities during the weekend and evenings, experiencing the way of life of a young person in France.
The whole experience was both educational and enjoyable and the visit helped to motivate students as well as increasing confidence just before the oral examinations. There is no doubt that the exchange is a highlight of the French course for many and strong links and friendships have been forged that will continue for many years to come.
