Applied Business students hand over big cheques!

Carmel College was host to a visit by the Mayor of St Helens on 14th April. Councillor Terry Shields was invited to the College to meet a group of nine A2 Applied Business students who worked in partnership with St Helens RLFC to host a Fashion Show last month.

The organisation and promotion of the event formed part of the students’ assessed coursework. Modelling the latest Saints merchandise, students took to the catwalk raising £100 for the Mayor's charity together with over £1100 in sales of Saints clothing. The Saints mascots Boots and St Bernard made a guest appearance, together with Saints player James Graham.

During his visit to College, the Mayor met with the students to find out about their experience of event management. Alison Woodcock, the students’ Business Tutor commented, "The work the students put into this event was remarkable. They worked well as a team and acted as true ambassadors for the College during their dealings with Saints. The feedback we have received from both the Club and College has been excellent and we are thrilled to have smashed our sales target from last year."
