Make a change - Support the 10:10 Campaign

The aim of the national 10:10 Campaign is to encourage everyone - individuals, companies and institutions - to cut their carbon emissions by 10% in 2010.

It’s Go Green week at Carmel this week. The People and Planet group will be encouraging staff and students to think about how they use energy and how they can make just a few small changes to reduce their carbon footprint, thereby reducing the potential risk of climate change.

All students will be taking part in an activity where they will work in groups to think of as many ideas as possible to cut carbon emissions. They will then choose one action from their group work that they can do individually and they will then write this onto a pledge leaf. Staff will also be encouraged to do the same. The People and Planet group will use the leaves to create a ‘Pledge Tree’ to symbolise the support for the 10:10 Campaign to become more energy efficient.
