Let them eat cake - but make sure it's Fairtrade!

For those on a diet, yesterday was not the day to be in college! Temptingly tasty treats were to be had at two cake sales - and all made with Fairtrade ingredients - delicious!

The Student Forum was the place to be at break time. Carmel’s Justice and Peace Group brought in homemade Fairtrade sponge cakes, flapjacks and cookies and with Fairtrade tea, coffee and hot chocolate also on offer, students wasted no time in grabbing some refreshment!

A Fairtrade Tea Party was the order of the day down in the Essential Skills Flat. With a beautifully presented spread of cakes all baked by the Essential Skills students, guests at the tea party were spoilt for choice – would it be lemon drizzle cake, chocolate muffins, banana cake, fairy cakes or chocolate layer cake – a tough decision! The students did a fantastic job in making their guests feel welcome and brought out the best china to serve the Fairtrade tea and coffee – all very civilised!

And all this BEFORE lunch!
