A great deal of thought, commitment and resources have been invested in providing a comprehensive programme of support and personal development for every student at Carmel.
This flexible programme aims to provide you with guidance and support at all times and involves individual counselling, one-to-one and group activities.
The programme covers several areas, including Open Forum, Careers Guidance, a wide range of Enrichment opportunities and a system for individual student reviewing and target setting. The programme also enables you to acquire qualifications in General Studies at Advanced Level and Key Skills at Levels 2 and 3. Critical Thinking is also offered as an additional subject to challenge those students of a high academic ability.
At Carmel, your personal, as well as your academic qualities, are highly valued. Therefore your Personal Tutor will monitor both your academic and personal progress and you can make an appointment at any time for guidance and support.
Careers advice is also made available to you through the College’s team of careers tutors or from the Connexions Adviser who is linked to the College. You will also be given guidance on completing applications for Higher Education and employment.
The Personal Tutor is the link between the College and Parents. Consultation Evenings are regular features of the College service to students and parents, as are Student Reviews which are sent home each term.
