Eleven students and two members of staff, including the Head of Department from Government and Politics visited London on its annual excursion to Parliament. The students had an exciting busy two days ahead of them, on the first day visiting the world famous British Museum and the next day they watched a short film at the Parliament Education Unit in Westminster. The group embarked on a guided tour around the houses of Parliament, after which they took part in a very informative Q&A meeting with St Helens North MP, Conor McGinn. The students got to ask a range of valid questions on various topics and did a great job probing the MP! To add the icing on the proverbial cake, Mr McGinn obtained tickets for the group to get into the public gallery in the House of Commons for part of the historic Brexit debate. They spent most of the day in Parliament hearing arguments from MP’s such as, George Osbourne, Alex Salmond, Tim Farron and Yvette Cooper ect. Everyone agreed that the trip had been such a fantastic experience that they didn’t want to leave.
