At Carmel we have a fantastic range of A Level courses to choose from. Most subjects have several classes so there is lots of flexibility when it comes to choosing your subjects.
How the changes to A Levels affect subject choices
2015 saw the start of the phasing in of new structures for all AS/A2 Levels. By 2017, all A Levels will be Linear in structure. This means that students will sit all their exams in May/ June of their second year.
In 2016, depending on your subject choice, you may be studying a mix of Linear A Levels
alongside AS/A2 Levels. All students at Carmel will take at least 3 A Level subjects
(or equivalent), with a significant number of students studying 4 or more.
The following subjects will be studied as Linear A Levels:
Art & Design, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computing, Drama & Theatre Studies, Economics, English Language, English Language & Literature, English Literature, French, Geography, German, History, Music, Philosophy & Religion, Physical Education, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, Spanish.
You will be able to study these subjects as AS/A2 Levels:
Critical Thinking, Film Studies, Law, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Media Studies, Government & Politics, Health & Social Care, Music Technology, ICT, Statistics
There will be no change to BTEC, Applied and UAL Level 3 courses.
