The Targeted Bursary is a fund of £1,200 per year for students who are in care, a care leaver, in receipt of income support or disabled and in receipt of Employment and Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance. You can apply for this bursary using the same application form as the General Bursary.
From September 2014, you will be able to apply for financial support towards the cost of a college lunch each day. This is aimed at those students in financial hardship who are aged over 16 is being extended to students following FE courses.
Students must be aged between 16 and 18 on 31 August 2014 to be eligible for a free meal in the 2014 to 2015 academic year. Students who turn 19 during their study programme will remain eligible for a free meal until the end of the academic year in which they turn 19 or to the end of their study programme, whichever is sooner.
To be entitled to this, "disadvantaged" is defined by the EFA as students being in receipt of, or having parents who are in receipt of, one or more of the benefits mentioned above.
