High Achievers

High Achievers

At Carmel we are keen that all of our students reach their full potential. Our High Achievers’ programme is designed to ensure that our most able learners are given the encouragement and assistance they need to achieve success.

Delivered by the High Achievers team, which consists of 9 co-ordinators who are specialists in their areas, the programme offers students activities, events and support, providing them with the best possible preparation for applying to Oxbridge and other prestigious institutions and for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine degrees. The programme also delivers a framework of structured support for talented students in specialist areas such as Art, Music, P.E. and Performance and works closely with the relevant specialist H.E. institutions for those disciplines.

Who will benefit from the Programme?

  • Typically, those students who wish to study at Oxford or Cambridge, or who want to study Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Medicine degrees. These university courses are particularly demanding and successful applicants will be amongst the strongest academic all-rounders.
  • Students who have achieved a GCSE average of 6.7 or above (at least 8As and 2Bs). Your school may have identified you as a high achieving ‘all-rounder’. For example, you may have been part of a ‘Gifted and Talented’ group.
  • Those with a specific talent ie. Art, Music, P.E., Performance.

What our students say.....
"I was initially reluctant to apply for Oxbridge, but through the High Achievers’ programme and tutor support, I gained the confidence to do so. I was guided through all aspects of the process, from writing an effective personal statement and completing additional application forms to participating in mock interviews. I believe that all of this support has had a massive impact on me achieving a conditional offer to read English at Magdalene College Cambridge." (Jessica Taylor)
